MOVING AGREEMENT
With an Acceptance of Risk Addendum
Summary A Moving Agreement may be used to contract with your Clients if you run a home or office moving business. It sets out the services that are included in the removal services, and can help to limit your liability in the event of unforeseen problems. The Agreement includes an Acceptance of Risk Addendum. The Addendum provides the Client with an election to 1) accept all risk for loss or damages to the goods being transported, or 2) pay the moving company an extended liability fee, whereupon the moving company will accept the risk for the goods while they’re under the moving company’s control.
You don’t need the Acceptance of Risk Addendum? Then have a look at our standard Moving Agreement instead.
Why do I need a Moving Agreement? When you provide moving services to your Clients it is always preferable to agree on the scope of these services in writing. A written agreement is also a useful tool to inform your Clients what is excluded from the moving services (for example the removal of certain types of goods such as cash, firearms, chemicals etc) and, of course, it confirms the agreed pricing of the removal. The Acceptance of Risk Addendum acts as either an acknowledgement of acceptance of risk by the customer, or as an extended liability undertaking by the removals company, dependent on the option chosen in the Addendum.
What type of business should use a Moving Agreement? If your business provides a home or office removals service to homeowners or businesses that are relocating, then you can use a written removals contract to contract with your Clients. In particular, this agreement addresses household moves and office moves to new premises, and also makes provision for packing, storage and unpacking services, if required.
What does the agreement say? The moving terms and conditions consist of: definitions; terms of the moving services; packaging; fees; risk; general
What does the agreement look like? The template contract can be printed onto four pages.
